BACKGROUND
In March of 2026, Henderson Councilmen Jim Seebock and Dan Stewart were in conversation and discovered they jointly wanted to bring together houses of worship that reside in the city of Henderson and see how we can help one another.

This would not be a city committee, but a community committee. An initial list was developed, and contacts were made. The first meeting was held inside a park and recreation center room they rented. Since then, all meetings, held monthly are hosted by a different house of worship. At the first meeting the group decided to move toward coming together at the Annual Community Day of Service that is being held this year on September 12, 2026.

Flory provided an overview of the organization's services and capabilities. S.A.F.E. House was founded, and is located, in Henderson. They are committed to stopping abuse in the family environment by providing safe shelter, support, advocacy, counseling and education.

Henson provided an overview of the organization's services and capabilities and is celebrating 35 years of serving our community this fall. They provide critical resources to families and individuals in crisis, with the goal of preventing homelessness and promoting self-sufficiency. They serve Henderson and east Las Vegas areas through emergency services, food assistance, and housing stabilization.

Hoehn provided an overview of the organization's history, services and capabilities. Every week during the school year they provide weekend meal bags to more than 4,400 food-insecure children in 98 elementary and middle schools. This next school year they are on task to serve 6100 children. She asked us to mark our calendars for their annual golf tournament on November 1 at Legacy Golf Club. A sign-up sheet to volunteer to fill the bags will be online in August: 20 people are needed, 3 nights a week, for 2 hours.

Chief Vivier presented an overview of the department's staffing and operations relative to keeping Henderson one of the safest communities in the U.S. and being recognized with numerous awards and accreditations. He highlighted the Residential Knox-Box Rapid Entry Program, allowing department personnel easy and rapid entry into a residence, and the Life-Ride Ambulance Membership program, for individuals and families to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for medically necessary transport provided by Henderson Fire.

Chief Rader spoke about e-bike recent regulations and enforcement efforts being successfully implemented, making young riders, parents, and the community aware of restrictions and how to report incidents of unsafe or illegal operation of e-bikes. The department has partnered with Basic Academy to create a Law Enforcement Program, with more than 100 students participating. Both he and Chief Vivier stressed the value of keeping citizens engaged and informed with programs and open houses held throughout the year.

A faith-based organization, focusing on legal, medical, education, benefits and employment support for homeless, pregnant and parenting women, LGH provides a safe environment and moves young women from dependence to empowerment. Their vision is for no pregnant woman to be homeless in our community. There are two residential campuses in the Green Valley area, and a new Safe & Sound Campus opening soon on Palo Verde Dr. Volunteer opportunities and donation information is on their website. www.LivingGraceHomes.org
