BACKGROUND
In March of 2026, Henderson Councilmen Jim Seebock and Dan Stewart were in conversation and discovered they jointly wanted to bring together houses of worship that reside in the City of Henderson and see how we can help one another.

This would not be a city committee, but a community committee. An initial list was developed, and contacts were made. The first meeting was held inside a park and recreation center room they rented. Since then, all meetings, held monthly are hosted by a different house of worship. At the first meeting the group decided to move toward coming together at the Annual Community Day of Service that is being held this year on September 12, 2026.

It was also decided to have a non-profit or special speaker make a brief presentation at each of these hourly meeting so that leadership could be made aware of available services within our own city.

Flory provided an overview of the organization's services and capabilities. S.A.F.E. House was founded, and is located, in Henderson. They are committed to stopping abuse in the family environment by providing safe shelter, support, advocacy, counseling and education.

Henson provided an overview of the organization's services and capabilities and is celebrating 35 years of serving our community this fall. They provide critical resources to families and individuals in crisis, with the goal of preventing homelessness and promoting self-sufficiency. They serve Henderson and east Las Vegas areas through emergency services, food assistance, and housing stabilization.

Hoehn provided an overview of the organization's history, services and capabilities. Every week during the school year they provide weekend meal bags to more than 4,400 food-insecure children in 98 elementary and middle schools. This next school year they are on task to serve 6100 children. She asked us to mark our calendars for their annual golf tournament on November 1 at Legacy Golf Club. A sign-up sheet to volunteer to fill the bags will be online in August: 20 people are needed, 3 nights a week, for 2 hours.
